2008 - 2009 Season Plays.
The
Exact Center of the Universe (drama)
Sept. 12 - 21, 2008
Vada Love Powell, the play's interfering, bigoted, yet oddly lovable
heroine, is "a Southern matriarch fit to ride alongside Alfred
Uhry's Miss Daisy," says the NY Post. The New York Times says,
"The Exact Center of the Universe is a charming, insightful reflection
on age, change, situational morality, the limitations of love and
the difficulty of feeling at home in the world...wise and funny...a
sweet-sour shot of Southern Comfort...nattily well-made."
Nuncrackers
(musical comedy)
Nov. 14 - 23, 2008
Nuncrackers is the fourth show in Dan Goggin's series of Nunsense
musicals. Featuring all new songs including "Twelve Days Prior
to Christmas," "Santa Ain't Comin' to Our House," "We
Three Kings of Orient Are Us," and "It's Better to Give
Than to Receive," this show is filled with typical Nunsense humor,
some of your favorite carols, and a "Secret Santa" audience
participation. We're certain this Nunsense Christmas show will make
you laugh and maybe tug at your heartstrings. It's the perfect way
to insure that your holiday season is merry and bright!
How
the Other Half Loves (farce)
Jan. 30 - Feb. 8, 2009
How the Other Half Loves, written by Alan Ayckbourn, is a hilarious
comedy about three couples seeking clues about who's misbehaving with
whom! One of the younger men is having an affair with the wife of
the oldest, and when each returns home suspiciously late one night,
they invent a story about having to spend some time smoothing domestic
matters in the home of the third couple.
To
Kill a Mockingbird (drama)
March 20 - 29, 2009
The novel, written by Harper Lee, deals with Civil Rights and racial
bigotry in the segregated southern United States of the 1930s. Told
through the eyes of the memorable Scout Finch, you learn about her
father, Atticus, an attorney who hopelessly strives to prove the innocence
of a black man unjustly accused of rape, and about Boo Radley, a mysterious
neighbor who saves Scout and her brother, Jem, from being killed.
A masterpiece!
Little
Shop of Horrors (musical)
May 8 - 17, 2009
One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate
spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a household name, thanks to
a highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team
of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical
film with Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.
Charming, tuneful and hilarious, Little Shop of Horrors never fails
to entertain.
